ISBN number: 978-0545-22490-1
Award: Printz Award 2012
The Scorpio Races take place every November. Kate Connelly, also known as Puck, knows the family is in trouble so she enters the races. The entire community has their doubts and superstitious beliefs because she is a female. The only person who believes in her is Sean Kendrick. Will his belief and her desire to win be enough?
I have already recommended this book to my mother and we are both lovers. The idea comes from traditional stories about water horses with a small twist. Maggie Stiefvater creates a love story with drama and scary creatures. The creatures in the story are truly frightening but the love story that comes from the race makes the story irresistible.
